US reselling guide
How to resell Pokémon cards
Pokémon card resale rewards product knowledge and careful handling. Decide whether you will sell sealed products, raw singles, graded cards, or collections before you buy inventory.
Match the sales channel to the item
Low-value singles may work in lots or local sales, while higher-value cards need strong photos, condition notes, secure shipping, and sometimes authentication or grading. Sealed products need protection from crushing and tears.
Condition changes the price
Centering, surface marks, corners, edges, print lines, and packaging damage affect value. Photograph defects clearly and use conservative condition descriptions to reduce returns.
Grading is not guaranteed value
Grading adds fees, shipping risk, and turnaround time. Compare likely grades and recent sold prices—not asking prices—before submitting.
Create a listing buyers can assess
Show clear front and back photographs, close-ups of defects, the card number, expansion, language, and whether the card is raw or graded. For sealed items, photograph corners, seals, and visible damage. Describe the specific item being sold rather than relying entirely on a stock image.
Use comparable sold items with matching condition. Exclude unrelated languages, lots, graded copies, and listings that include additional products. Before listing, confirm the marketplace’s current card-category rules and fees.
Shipping and grading decisions
For a raw card, prevent movement and bending with suitable card protection and packaging. Weigh and price the shipment before accepting an offer. For valuable items, check the carrier’s tracking and cover conditions rather than assuming every service includes the same protection.
Model several grading outcomes: what happens if the card returns below your hoped-for grade, and how much capital is tied up during processing? Grading and postage costs are incurred even if resale demand weakens.
- Keep purchase and sale records for each higher-value card.
- Do not open sealed inventory solely because advertised singles prices look high.
- Disclose alterations, uncertainty, and packaging defects.
- Resolve authenticity concerns before offering an item for sale.
